instaoutfit. What I wore Last Monday.

I heart dessert, so I had to make a dessert stand. I made another DIY blog post: check it out at daintinessDIY. In five steps, these thrifted plates and glasses turned into a tiered dessert stand. Now I can throw all the tea parties I want. Yes.
Mirror, mirror. I spent some time going to garage + estate sales last weekend and picked up this little gold mirror for my new apartment. I sense a lot more thrifting and DIY-ing later on this summer… Looking forward to it!

It is definitely spring. It’s beginning to be shorts and shades weather. Day two of the quarter and it’s awesome thus far. This morning, I went to my only class of the day— history of modern design. I’m very excited for it! After class, I met up with my housemate Alli and we went to Thai Canteen to get her thai iced tea fix. ALLI IS A THAI ICED TEA ADDICT. We walked to the SPCA thrift store after that in an attempt to find some decorations for my room. Found that green bowl thing that I had to have. It was only $2, but I couldn’t use my debit card since the minimum was $5… I just donated the rest to SPCA since I didn’t want to be a hoarder and get some random shit. I definitely watched a few episodes of that TLC hoarder show during spring break and I must say that it made me want to go on a cleaning rampage (still in progress). It also didn’t hurt to donate to SPCA… they’re a great organization. Obviously I have a soft spot for animals, especially RABBITS— the underdogs, poor creatures in the low end of the animal kingdom… In about 3 months, some stupid children will probably have to give up the bunnies they got for easter because they’re bored with it. There’s a lot of neglected animals out there… it’s terrible.
Anyways… sorry for ranting. After my mini thrift store adventure with Alli, I chilled at the EC office for a bit then caught up with Leanne (who spent spring break volunteering in Honduras!) and Olivia (who went to Hawaii for a geology field trip). I always like catching up. I went to Crepeville with bow girl Justine for dinner and had a delicious chicken pesto crepe. Yum yum yum. I love eating outside— the weather was way too nice to stay in! The beginning of the quarter always have me feeling positive. Hopefully this feeling stays.

SUMMER DAYS. Yesterday I went to the bay with Dwyer, Aileen, & Adam. First, Oakland to get our Outside Lands day 2 ticket & then Berkeley for some dindin. We hit up a goodwill in Oakland and got both of these for a total of $4.98. Yeeyuh. I love the vintage coffee poster, I’m sure I can find a place for it somewhere in my future dining or kitchen area. I love the frame on the right too! At first I was going to paint it a bright color, but I really like it the way it is… UHMMMM OUTSIDELANDS TOMORROW!
A mini, velvet wingback chair. I have no idea what I would do with this besides look at it, but as soon as my little sis and I saw it, we immediately swooned over it. I HAD to have it, it’s so adorable. Initially, I wanted to change the fabric, but I highly doubt I’ll be doing that any time soon. This was originally $16.00, but I got it for $6.00.

I bought a mini lamp shade because I already destroyed the one I bought for my pink lamp last summer. I also purchased a small ceramics jug thing and a pet dish.

The pet dish is extremely cheesy, I wasn’t going to get it at first but I haven’t been able to find one during my previous visits. I needed an extra one for Brody so I bought it anyway… The cheesy quote makes it a little funny though I have to admit. The lamp shade was $1.50, little jar 50¢ and pet dish was also 50¢. Total from this day: $8.50 but because of the 30% off that day, I got them all for $6.something dollars! YAYYY!

A black board from IKEA. I’ve been wanting a black board for the house, but couldn’t find one… I didn’t want to settle for a brand new from IKEA for $14.00 because it was too small for what I had initially wanted. I got this for $2.50 and couldn’t pass it up! It was an awesome deal, I just have to peel the little sticker. It has two metal trays so you can put your chalks and those two holes where you can put letters. I could have made my own huge chalkboard, but that means I have to buy a large piece of plywood and deal with the chalk residue after erasing (look at the photo above, the board next to it is the one that I made a couple of months ago, the texture is GREAT to write on, but erasing it is a bitch). Writing in this IKEA board isn’t that wonderful, but I’m probably gonna end up trying chalk markers on them.

A set of what looks like unused magnetic poetry!!!!!!! Ahh! So happy I got these for $2.50 because a set would cost me $10.00 at the UCD bookstore. I couldn’t figure out the theme of this one though, it seems scattered. Just look at the photo and figure it out, haha.
Board + magnets: $5.00… yeeeeyaaaaa!!!

It seems like Monsieur Lapin approves of the chair.
THRIFTED. Last week, my little sister stayed with me for four days. Hanging out with her was a lot of fun! We went to the SPCA thrift store downtown and I found some cute little knicknacks…

Seriously though, where did time go? I had such a chill weekend, I love it! Very glad I didn’t go to Santa Cruz… I totally dreaded the 2 hour car ride… not cause I hate long car rides, but I totally didn’t feel like going through that this weekend. Car rides just make me feel car sick and lethargic. I just wanted to r-e-l-a-x. Either do nothing or do something within the area. I didn’t get to go to the recpool, which is fine because I have all quarter… Yesterday was super nice because Cristina, John, & I went to the SPCA thrift. I actually bought some stuff! I’m definitely coming back. I also checked out Paint Chip, Ace, and had Peet’s with John. Ahh got so excited going to Ace because I visited the bunny and checked out the herb plants I wanna try to grow next year :) After that, John & I made some lumpia, visited Adobe, and just chillleeed! It was a good day!
And a sneak peek of the things I got from SPCA & what I did to my white T.
